Programmes & Levels
Every child progresses at their own pace. Below is what we offer today, and how students move through the levels within each programme.
Baby Classes
6 months - 2 years · Group lessons
Our Moms & Tots programme is about so much more than learning to swim—it's about creating a lifelong love of the water while strengthening the unique bond between parent and child. Through songs, games, gentle movement, and plenty of fun, little ones develop water confidence, coordination, balance, and early swimming skills in a safe, nurturing environment. At the same time, parents enjoy precious one-on-one time with their child, building trust, communication, and confidence together. These shared experiences create lasting memories while helping children feel secure in the water, making the transition to independent swimming both natural and enjoyable.
Levels & Progression
- Comfort and Safety — At this early stage, the objective is not to teach swimming, but rather to develop confidence, trust and familiarity with the water. Through gentle guidance, songs, games and carefully structured activities, babies begin to discover that the water is a safe and enjoyable environment. The constant presence of a parent—most often their mother—provides reassurance and emotional security, allowing the child to explore the water with confidence.
- Submersion, breathing and forward movement — Having developed confidence and comfort in the water baby is now ready to begin working with their instructor. At this stage, we introduce supported floating on the back, helping your baby learn to relax, trust the water and experience their natural buoyancy. With gentle guidance and close supervision from the instructor, babies begin to develop body position, balance and calm breathing while floating — an important foundation for becoming confident and independent in the water.
- Confidence and the start of independence — Goal: Confidence and the start of independence

Learn to Swim
2 - all ages · Group lessons
Our Learn to Swim classes are taught in small groups, ensuring every swimmer receives plenty of individual attention while benefiting from the fun, encouragement, and motivation of learning alongside their peers. Our structured programme focuses on developing six essential water safety and swimming skills: safe pool entry and exit, effective breathing, confident floating, treading water, coordinated body movement, and strong kicking technique. As swimmers gain confidence and competence, they progress naturally to independent swimming and front crawl. Every lesson is designed to build water confidence, reinforce correct technique, and help each child develop into a safe, capable, and confident swimmer in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
Levels & Progression
- Floatation and forward movement — Experienced learn-to-swim instructors recognise that breathing development cannot be rushed. Every child progresses at a different pace, and confidence always precedes technique. Lessons are carefully structured to provide positive experiences, frequent repetition and plenty of encouragement.
- Floatation, Forward Movement, and Breathing — Independent floating and treading water are essential milestones in a child's learn-to-swim journey. These skills develop body awareness, confidence and self-reliance in the water, while providing important survival techniques that can help a child remain safe should they unexpectedly enter deep water. Both skills are introduced progressively, with each child advancing at a pace that matches their physical development and confidence
- Independent movement, rotation, breath control and stroke introduction — A strong focus is placed on breath control, including becoming comfortable with the face in the water, blowing bubbles and learning to coordinate breathing with movement. Swimmers also develop streamlined body positions and coordinated kicking and arm movements. As their confidence and water skills develop, swimmers are gradually introduced to the foundations of the front crawl and backstroke, learning correct body position, leg and arm action, breathing and timing. The emphasis is on developing good technique and confidence rather than simply swimming a distance. The goal is to help each swimmer become increasingly independent, coordinated and confident in the water, while building the essential skills needed for continued stroke development.
- Coordinated Movement & Kicking — Swimming is a whole-body activity that requires the arms, legs, breathing and body position to work together in a smooth, coordinated manner. While young children often develop kicking and arm actions independently, learning to combine these movements effectively is a gradual process that forms the bridge between basic water confidence and competent swimming. Developing kick strength is not simply about creating powerful leg movements. Young swimmers must first learn to generate propulsion using relaxed, rhythmic kicks originating from the hips rather than the knees. As leg strength, coordination and endurance improve, children are able to maintain a better body position, swim greater distances and perform increasingly efficient stroke techniques. Similarly, coordinating the arms and legs requires neurological development as much as physical ability. Young children naturally focus on one movement at a time, so instructors introduce combined movements progressively through carefully structured activities. Repetition, encouragement and play-based learning allow these movement patterns to become automatic over time. The ultimate goal is for children to swim with relaxed, efficient coordination rather than relying on isolated or exaggerated movements. Once arm and leg coordination becomes instinctive, swimmers can begin refining individual strokes, improving breathing rhythm and developing endurance.
- Stroke Development — Swim 25m of freestyle, backstroke & breaststroke with consistent form, & swim 15m of butterfly with consistent formStroke development represents the final stage of a comprehensive learn-to-swim programme. By this point, children have mastered the essential foundations of water confidence, breath control, floating, propulsion and coordinated movement. The emphasis now shifts from simply being able to swim independently to refining technique, building endurance and preparing for participation in a structured swimming squad. The objective of this stage is not to create elite swimmers, but to ensure that every child develops technically sound stroke mechanics that will support lifelong swimming enjoyment and, for those who choose to continue, provide a seamless transition into competitive swimming. Correct technique established at this age is far easier to maintain than correcting poor habits later in a swimmer's development. Instruction focuses on refining the four recognised competitive strokes—freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly—while introducing starts, turns, streamlining and the discipline required in a squad environment. Children also develop greater endurance, body awareness and confidence swimming independently over increasing distances. Throughout this phase, coaches place greater emphasis on quality, consistency and efficiency. Swimmers learn that smooth, technically correct movement is more effective than simply swimming faster or hard

How progression works
Instructors assess each student's skills against the level descriptions above during regular lessons. When a coach considers a student ready, they record it in our system and the student moves up to the next level or programme at the start of the following month — so every family always knows exactly where their child stands.
